Our Partnership: Haley House

hh.jpeg

Tufts Model UN is proud to announce our first philanthropic partner, Haley House. Through the weekend of TUMUN X, there will be opportunties to support this organization through cash donations and cash purchases of Candy Grams. A represenative will also be featured in our opening ceremony to talk to our delegates directly as well.

Originally founded as a “house of hospitality” in 1966, Haley House has grown into a multifaceted organization deeply rooted in the South End and Roxbury. Their work falls into 5 categories: direct services (soup kitchen, food pantry), permanent affordable housing (110+ units in scattered South End sites), urban agriculture (Mel King School Garden school plot in the South End, an urban farm in Roxbury), education and training (Take Back the Kitchen cooking classes for youth and Life Foundations Training [LiFT] for returning citizens), and a social enterprise restaurant (Haley House Bakery Café).

Their mission is "to use food with purpose and the power of community to break down barriers between people, empower individuals, and strengthen neighborhoods".

Representatives from Haley House will be present during TUMUN X, with more information about their program and donation opportunities through a cash box.  Additionally, all proceeds from Candy Grams sold by Model UN during this weekend will be donated to this cause
